2. Not sure.

I am a big fan of the slow, terrifying built tension of the first movie rather than the action of the following movies.

I am not sure they can get away with that sort of mood for an Alien movie but I am hoping that 3 and 4 being so horrible will allow Scott to revisit the success of the first without having to fall back on the Hollywood action of the second.

3. as much as i loved the first two (and who didn't), it's impossible for me to be excited about anything 'alien' so long as movies 3 & 4 remain canon.

4. I think they should do another AVP film, and combine it with Rambo 5. Rambo being recruited by the government to hunt down and kill an Alien out in the jungle or the woods, and then being hunted down himself by a Predator.

6. I'm a big fan of the DUNE universe and they show how prequels can offer fresh opportunities. In the Dune universe I prefer the sons books over the father's and most are prequels to DUNE.
ALIENS prequel could show the giant race from the crash scene and how they came in contact with the ALIEN species.

7. When I heard there was going to be a prequel I thought it would be great to see what happened to the ship the crew of the Nostromo stumbled upon in the first movie. No humans, little dialogue and totally alien in all senses of the word. Perhaps what we saw of the ship were it's bones. It may have been an organic hybrid material, an interesting visual for H.R.Giger to build upon. Pure cinema requires little dialogue, that's when you can tell you're in the hands of a master of the form. So to see perhaps a race of aliens, scientist aliens exploring the universe and finding a planet decimated by our multi-fanged, acid for blood friends would be mighty cool I reckon. Spooky, tense and believable in a weird kind of way.

8. I am so excited to hear that Ridley Scott is on board for a prequel!!! One and Two - loved - not so much 3 and 4 (altho 3 was leagues better than 4). (Okay, 2 was my absolute favorite - even tho 1 was by far much scarier).

I saw the first Alien alone. Honestly, I nearly walked out I was so scared - the current blood-porn that passes for true SCARY MOVIEs, doesn't hold a candle to the suspense, superb direction and story line of the first Alien (or many other good scary movies)...the only other movie that scared me so much was the uncut version of 'Rosemary's Baby'....truly one for the ages.

Hoping that an Alien prequel will actually happen!

12. I'd like to see a postquel. They could title it "Aliens V, Colonial Marines" and they wouldn't even need to clone Ripley this time since it was such a terrible idea last time. Too bad Newt got killed in Aliens III or her adult character could go along as an advisor. I guess that leaves a rebuilt Bishop as the only possible continuity unless they could download his memory to a younger artificial human. I want to see lots of pulse rifle shootin', grenade throwin' and gobs of acidic blood splattered all over the place. Stay frosty guys.

14. I'm surprised at all the praise for 2 and the hate for 3. I think 3 is far better than 2, listening to Bill Paxton bitch the whole time and oh god the annoyance that was Newt.

I mean 3 has its problems, especially towards the end, and it lacks some of the suspense of 1, but the "guns blazing" 2 just isn't as good.

15. Definitely more ALIEN. Just wanted to note that some fans are being too harsh about Resurrection. The flavor of each film was different. Two was similar to one, its true, but three was almost retrograde and four brought home the dangers of unregulated genetic engineering. The premise of "memory" in DNA taken from Ripley 200 years earlier is really a stretch, but with the acting talent of Sigorney Weaver, who cares?

I can only hope that Ridley will do this right; unless it is so incredibly fantastic that I can look back at how much I'm genuinely worrying about this and laugh, it really shouldn't be addressed.
It is hard to have faith with a franchise that has been so mercilessly exploited, and in the haze of reboot hysteria! But this is Ridley Scott...must have faith!
(At least until proven wrong, then I'll probably live with my head forever in my hands... it is bad enough that my children, if I have any, will probably come to associated Paul W S Anderson's limp offerings first before the good stuff...and after Aliens being chucked around by their tails, who is actually frightened of them anymore?... Trying not to rant!!)

20. I think an Alien prequel could stand a little exploration into other intelligent life that exists in the Alien universe. We as humans don't necessarily have to know much about them, but the seed was already planted in the original film with the 'elephant head' giants who probably produced huge monsters from their chests.

Huge terrifying monsters would definitely be a fresh approach. I think it would also be a good way to balance the damage that was done by the Alien VS Predator films which have cheapened the experience.

Take me to an alien world that is far less friendly than Avatar. Where did that ship come from in the beginning of Alien?
