Hot Right Now: Captain America Arrives on 'The Incredible Hulk' DVD

Back when The Incredible Hulk hit movie theaters -- and because of Nick Fury's appearance in Iron Man -- folks were itching for more Avengers references with their summer movie watching. Thus, fans went bat-sh*t (excuse the DC reference) over a rumor that Captain America popped up in a scene during Incredible Hulk, which was fueled by a sorta confirmation from director Louis Leterrier ... but then the flick hit theaters and nada. Now, with the DVD due out on October 21st, it seems there's a little easter egg awaiting fans. A number of different sites have reported that a shot of Captain America frozen in ice exists within the alternate opening scene -- one that follows Bruce Banner to the arctic circle in search of a very random way to kill himself (see photo above, courtesy of Slashfilm). So there ya go. And seeing as the upcoming Captain America film will be set during WWII, we now know how they'll make that work for the Avengers movie. He was frozen in ice! Hopefully we won't get any corny lines like "What's an iPod" when the good old Captain shows up in theaters in 2011.
Oh, and speaking of Hulk, the Iron Man writers would love to see him play villain in the aforementioned Avengers movie. Mark Fergus tells MTV: "You don't want like 10 super-badass good guys fighting together. Where's the fun in that? Let's break it off a little. Friends or colleagues who become enemies is always an interesting thing because you know it's based on love and friendship and that's always the worst thing to have turn bad - is someone you actually care about and someone you actually believe in."
What do you think? Should Hulk become the villain in Avengers? If not him, then who?

Hulk as the villain in the Avengers movie would be amazing. The seriousness with which Marvel Studioes is largely taking its adaptations is making me ooze with a confidence I haven't felt in a while. Of course, the cu de gras would be if they follow the full storyline from the original Avengers story arc where it is Loki who sets Hulk against the Avengers, which could easily be spun out of the Thor movie due the year before. In fact, I'm so excited I think I'm going to go blog about it on my own.

Hulk can start out the villian but in then he has enough with puny heroes and high tails it....but he comes back just as Loki (Adrien Brody) is overwhelming our Avengers with his magic. Still, the world is afraid of the jade giant and he leaps off after he helps defeat the God of Lies. Of course this means Branagh's Thor will have already affirmed Loki as a major player by then!

You know...in the original comic book series, the Hulk eventually does turn against the Avengers. At least for a short time. It would be kinda refreshing to see Norton playa villian. I really think he's cut out for it. One thing that i also look forward to...is seeing him turn good at the end.
I definitely do love the Hulk, and I believe that they did an awesome job with The Incredible Hulk Movie. So much better in fact than the first one, which seemed more like a kids film. I am looking forward to seeing this new string of Super-Hero movies they are coming out with!!!

The Hulk as the antagonist would be fantastic as long as it is based on the idea that Bruce has lost total control. He is completely overtaken by The Hulk and cannot focus it for whatever the reason.
The Loki idea would be interesting in this capacity as long as the Thor movie establishes him as a sincere threat. Fighting The Hulk would be very dramatic and any excuse to get the Hulk-Buster Armor into the equation is worthwhile to me.
Let's hope they do this or come up with something as good.

i think its a great idea to make the hulk the bad guy ...
I loved the incredible hulk movie but felt that i only had a small taste of what the hulk can really do with his awesome power ...
As the bad guy i think that they would be able to show him 100x stronger and 100x more vicious than he was against Abom ...
what they did in one of the avengers cartoon movie ... Hulk tried to save Betty and ends up smashing the whole team as well as everyone else hahaha.

*Fondly remembers the old story arc in the Hulk comics where Bruce and Hulk were physically separated into two beings and Doc Sampson accidentally set the Banner-free Hulk loose. Hulk went on one helluva rampage and eventually fought both the East and West coast Avengers at the same time and got away, leaving them all battered and bruised.*
Seeing something like that in a movie of the quality Marvel has demonstrated as a production company so far...well I get a little nerd tingle just thinking about it...

Umm cinematical? Have you read or done any background on Captain America Comics and Avengers... Thats what is supposed to happen... unless you're being sarcastic which im very bad at telling in this case...
But I thought everyone always figured that Cap America would be frozen like in the comics and thawed out for the Avengers, I didn't think anyone would think of that as a surprise.

NO NO NO NO NO, hulk CANNOT be a villain in the avengers movie that would be awful for the first one maybe he gets out of control but thats it you need someone cool to be a villain and a main avenger villain like ultron or like a skrall invasion but putting hulk as a bad guy in the first movie is like if u killed off one of the avengers in ANY of the movies, ITS FUCKED UP! leave those to the comics to make hulk the bad guy HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FUCKING GOOD GUY GET THAT THROUGH UR FUCKING HEADS U ASS WIPE WRITERS AND DIRECTORS!!! the avengers r supposed to fight together not against eachother they do in the comics but this is the first movie so just let them all be cool wit eachother. o AND BTW, IF THEY FUCK UP THE SECOND IRON MAN MOVIE AND MAKE IT LIKE SPIDER-MAN 3 I'LL FUCKIN LOSE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has this obscure Captain America reference I squinted at for three minutes just now been confirmed, or did I just waste precious time staring at what appears to be nothing more than a shadow of some sorts?

sounds alot like the ultimates and the ultimate avengers animated movie ( both by the way kick-ass). withch wouldn't be bad. samuel l. jackson looks the part, iron man and the hulk are already out so people are familiar with their back story. The captain america movie is due out in 2011 followed by Thor. So the avenger movie should be able to take right off. I like the beging of the new avengers comic book where the heros have to stop a major prision break out that forces the heros to come together and work as a team. that would be a really cool way to start the movie. There has also got to be more than one bad guy. i know Dr. Doom was in the fantasic four flicks, but you would not have to worry about his back story.( a cameo by the fantasic four would be cool to.) The ulatimate alliance video game had a real good story that pitted all the heros vs all the villians . How about the avengers biggest foe Ultron, hope to see him in the ant man and wasp flick.(If they ever make one, Giant Man would be cool on the big srceen.). I'm sure will see loki in the Thor movie, but the avengers vs. Loki , super cool special effects! But if your going to pit the avengers against anyone their first go around who better that MAGNETO. Once again film goers already know his back story thanks to th X-men movies. ( cameos by the proffesser and wolverine and the rest of the x-men. Smells like a good tie in movie. I hope the avenger movie will show how vast the marvell universe is full of villians and heros. How about all the villians listed above verse the avengers and the hulk ends up saveing the day. Things I'd like to see: lots of cameos by spider man, the fantastic four, mabye the x-men or ghost rider , even mabye the punisher. Future avengers like hawkeye ,quick silver, scarlet witch, the vision, the black widow, wonder man, the black panther ,ms. marvell. Any would do all would be super cool. Newer avengers like aries and echo would be cool. The sentury is the coolest super hero since i don't know ugh- super man. His story is really stange and dark, would make a great movie.

As long as were guessing here how bout the teams put together to stop the Hulk and then is faced with a greater threat that they need him for dont know what Id have to think about that as for characters Id like to see Ive always likedthe more obscure but I would definatly like to see Vision and Mantis though I dont think their popular enough to make the cut.

Brett Ratner should be the main villain!!! Superpower being to shoot copy`s of X3 at the heroes. Then he would torture the survivors by making them watch it...TWICE!!!!
Enyhow. Beast from the x-men was an avenger. It would be cool if they used him ,even if it was just a cameo. Villainwise I have to go with a Villain team up.The leader, loki, and mandarin are all cool, but really, they are more intellectuals. We need someone who can figth.Thor alone would beat all three.

The Hulk would be an amzing bad guy only if the writers unleash the full fury of the Hulk. Sometimes you see the Hulk as a little strong like in the newest movie, but to make him a great bad guy they would almost literally have to make him unstoppable and destroying anything around him.
