Watch This: Spielberg and Lucas Raping Indiana Jones (Literally)

So who watched the season premiere of South Park last night? I tell you, just when you think those boys are starting to get a bit weak in their old age, you're shown a scene featuring Steven Spielberg and George Lucas physically raping Indiana Jones as the poor man cries out for help. Oh yeah ... and did we mention Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull comes out on DVD this Tuesday? Yup ... and it's, er, loaded with extras!
Obviously this was their way of saying the latest Indiana Jones film sorta raped their childhood, but count me among those who kinda enjoyed watching the flick. (And I'm not alone -- here's Jeffrey's passionate post in defense of the sequel.) Sure, I could do without a few scenes here and there, but overall it wasn't terrible. What do you think? Did South Park cross a line last night?
Note: The following scene might be a little sensitive for some, so be warned -- TV-MA and all that ...

The problem with South Park (after the 5th season) is in their awesomeness quest to provide biting social commentary, they forgot to be funny. I can still watch old episodes and cry laughing. But that hasn't happened in 6 years.

I couldn't disagree more, Mike. The last couple of seasons in particular have had some of the best episodes in the run of the show. The show has evolved beautifully over the years to the point that those first couple of seasons are kind of tame by comparison. They get it right. They get the humor, the connection with their audience, the social commentary, bringing a point to their cultural references and how to shock without seeming desperate. I couldn't ask for the show to be better.
Last night's episode was SO wrong and I feel awful for laughing but they're the only ones who can do that anymore. I think they're walking a fine line (as usual) but it's down to context, which saves them every time.

I'm also going to defend South Park here. The Simpsons lost whatever bite they once had and Family Guy has devolved into just unfunny excuses to poke fun at Bush and those around him. South Park still hits home in a humorous way that has most people saying "Ok, maybe one more season before they suck" every single time they premiere.

It's still funny, but the earlier episodes were waaay better.

I disagree. They have a pretty good sense of humor and while it may get bogged down in their obsession with social commentary, the characters remain hysterical, irreverent and bizarre.
As for our blogger..... if you liked the new Indiana Jones, you are wrong. That's all there is. Cheers to SP for calling shenanigans on that nonsense.

They managed to animate what my friend & I both felt like after watching that massive pile at the theater. I was most like Jimmy when he brought up that friggin' refrigerator scene but there were at least a dozen more craptastic scenes in that trainwreck of my childhood memories. I read that they have ideas for another Indy movie & so help me god, if Jar Jar is in it I vow to never buy anything from those two soul crushers ever again! Spielberg & Lucas MUST BE STOPPED!!!

I too feel that SP has only gotten better with age. As a fan from the start, I remember when they hit their 100th ep and the big joke was that the show had jumped the shark. The beauty of it was that this was actually the moment they jumped full bore into trying to create worthwhile, eye-opening social commentary. Each new episode now has an important story to tell - and sometimes that story is "Relax. It's just a cartoon."

While watching last night's episode, I was immediately reminded how my good friend looked after we left the midnight screening. His face was an undescribable mix of pain and emotion...it was like he just witnessed someone dying. What he felt was exactly what South Park was describing. He truly looked like a man who just witnessed his hero of 20 years being horrifically raped.
I love how everyone is hugging in the end saying, "They got those bastards! This will never happen again to anyone ever again!"
It was perfect.

Did Southpark go to far? Far from it. They never brought Shia in. In fact I would describe my experience watching Indy IV, in the words of Steve Coogan, like being *$&%ed in the face.
If you honestly didn't think Indy IV was that bad, maybe you should take yourself off cinematical's staff and head to Entertainment Tonight where everything in the world is awesome.
You have lost your objectivity.

So let's summarize: Jokes about rape are funny but if you make a movie solely for the purposes of entertainment, you are more evil than Robert Mugabe, Kim Jong Ill and Osama Bin Laden put together?? I must be in a parallel universe where you only have to make a disappointing movie to be considered a villain.

South Park is spot on, here. Good for them for giving Indy IV a skewering. It's a horrible, anaemic cash-in of a movie.

South Park was spot on, G. Mucas and SS deserve to be taken to task - and so does H. Ford for ok-ing the plotless, pointless, motivationless, CGI-made because we can and not because it adds to the story, movie.
The rape scenes weren't funny. They were horrific. And, horror is what South Park wanted to show - the horror that we all felt watching this d-movie. My "we" of course excludes all the Butter simpletons out there who "kinda liked the movie."
No, Mucas and SS aren't evil men, like Mugabe, Ill, and Bin-Laden - but our government is supposed to take them to task. Our satirists should take everyone to task they deem fit; if they only concentrate on the political evils, the show would soon be canceled.
I can vote, write letters to congress, asking them for action with evil politicians, but I don't have a voice when it comes to taking big, stupid filmmakers to task - Please, let the writers of South Park do me this service! They do it well, and I watch them for it, and remain a loyal fan.

Bottom line: Southpark with time = better
Indiana Jones with time = sucks!
I think it was an insult to have the ark there for a second, that first movie is such a monster masterpiece, ruined by this Skull crap.
In the end, even us, the IJ fans who got rapped at the box office.

Lets remember to focus on the real issue here. That Spielberg and Lucas are running around free to rape any and all of their past triumphs. Seriously, Indy 4 was horrible, the new Star Wars ridiculous. I hope the DVD gets the worst sales ever, but it probably won't thanks to all the lemmings out there. I did go see it, but i was refunded thanks to the theaters 'if you didn't enjoy it' policy.
South Park Forever!!

This is STUPID! Indy 4 was great. Yes there were times I would have liked to see things done differently, but guess what, IT'S NOT MY MOVIE! I loved it as well as I love the others so much. South Park sucks....it has always sucked. Now I will never view another clip from them. They have crossed the line big time! They can't think of any way to be funny other than to criticize and make fun on others. Sad.
