This Just In: 'Let the Right One In' is Ten Times Better Than 'Twilight'

Sorry for tricking you, but I just used that headline to grab your attention. I haven't even seen Twilight yet. But if you're someone who's in the market for a film based on an award-winning book about a dark-yet-poignant romance between two young people -- one of whom happens to be a vampire -- then I have a movie that's NOT called Twilight that I want you to check out. You'll have to (gasp) brave some subtitles to earn your rewards, but Tomas Alfredson's Let the Right One In is one fantastic film. Either you know that already, you've heard it already, or you'll find out in a few months time: It's awesome.Anyway, Magnet / Magnolia has just announced an official release pattern for the brilliant Swedish film, and I'll give you the full calendar after the jump, but I will say this: There's good news afoot if you happen to live in or around New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia (hooray!), Seattle, Denver, Nashville, Santa Fe, Hartford ... Oh hell, just click on in and check the big list. (And thanks to Fangoria for the heads-up.)
As much as I hate to contribute to "overhype," some films just deserve the praise. Like this one. As far as Twilight goes, well, if it's half as good as LTROI, then it will be a VERY good film. (Again, I'm not comparing -- merely piggy-backing on a popular title in the hopes of shedding some light on a much smaller one. Movie geeks are clever that way.)

Why in the hell does the E Street in DC all of a sudden have to get two genre films I desperately want to see - Let the Right One in on the 7th and My Name is Bruce (with Campbell in attendance!) on the 15th - when it has been bone dry the rest of the year? I'll be in God forsaken Côte d'Ivoire popping malaria pills for work when I could be seeing what is unarguably the most buzzed about horror title of the year OR another title unreleased for years with The Chin himself in attendance...

5. Yo! Twilight looks like is going to be softer then yogurt compared to Let the Right One In.
Also if you anyone is looking for good movie Let The Right One In is part of the Six Shooter Series. I stumbled upon this online. It looks tight!

6. About "Let the right one in"
Excellent swedish movie. It opened last friday in Sweden and has been "the talk of the week".
And the really fun part is this... The film is taking place in a Stockholm suburb called Blackeberg, which is located about 25 minutes by subway from Stockholm City.
And I live in that suburb! About 200 meters away from the centre!
A few scenes from the movie was shot in Blackeberg and the most part of the movie was filmed in Luleå which is far far north from Stockholm. Still they made it feel like Blackeberg. Excellent work.
The big tree in the scene when Eli jumps down from it and fiests on the white trash woman is still standing in Blackeberg. I saw it on the way from the cinema this monday. Thats kinda cool I think.
Only one thing really bugged me when I left the theatre. The whole movie was taking place in the winter time and there was a lot of snow all throughout the movie - EXCEPT when the two alcoholics (one woman and a man) are walking down the street (Wergelands street). And then they separated and the woman walked up the stairs to Blackeberg centre. And then Eli jumped her. In those scenes there wasn´t any snow at all to be seen anywhere. Very strange and it was a total failure to miss that.
Otherwise the movie was excellent. Even though I heard that they didn´t film the really scary stuff from the book by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I haven´t read the book but I probably will. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Ajvide_Lindqvist).
