Be Still My Heart -- New 'Australia' Trailer!
Filed under: Action, Drama, Romance, 20th Century Fox, Newsstand, Movie Marketing, War, Nicole Kidman, Trailers and Clips

But at last, there is a new trailer, courtesy of MSN, but sans embed code. It's an odd trailer. It starts off in a style that's quite contemporary, both in the cinematography and the music, and then shifts into the style (complete with choir) that one normally associates with an epic period piece. And while I know that Kidman and Jackman fight off an evil cattle baron and the Japanese invasion, little of that plot comes through. But it certainly looks beautiful, sweeping, romantic (love the peek at the love scenes), and exciting .... and maybe, just maybe, that's enough. Well, that and the shot of Jackman about 30 seconds in ....
Australia hits theatres November 26th, 2008.

Not to mention the teaser was paired with Indiana 4 and the new trailer paird with Desperate Housewives which drew over 18mil in viewers.
Im hoping it's just a case of good timing, I mean look at all those other Oscar contending films who foolishly released their trailers practically all in the same week or two. Now AU has the spotlight to itself, all because it didnt rush.

3. OMG, I can't wait for this movie. I did catch some titillating bits of skin. I just hope it lives up to the sweep of the trailer, it gives me goosebumps. A new bit of WWII history to see for a change too, the Japanese attack on Australia.

4. Personally, I don't really care what the details of the plot are. Sweeping Australian mid-20th century epic pretty much draws me in. I cannot wait to see this.
I love Baz Luhrmann's films, particularly visually, and to let him loose on an epic is either the best or worst decision a studio exec ever made.

8. An Australian unable to see the "Australia" trailer...now that is just not right!
It's still not up on YouTube, either. That's why I hate the trailers you can't embed, they become impossible to watch outside of the U.S.

1. Is anyone else tuned off by Jackman and Kidman's horribly fake Australian accents? I mean, give me a break.
Okay just kidding.
Actually I think it's very cool to see the two Australian actors playing Australian roles. With all the assbackwards casting in Hollywood these days, you have to give real credit to the casting department for making that happen.
