Brittany Snow to Climb the 'Clock Tower'
Filed under: Horror, Casting, Games and Game Movies
The director of The Hills Have Eyes II is teaming up with the star of the Prom Night remake for what should logically add up to the worst horror film ever made. Variety reports that Brittany Snow has been cast as the lead in the video game adaptation Clock Tower, to be directed by Martin Weisz. Again playing a teenager, despite the fact that she looks 40 (she's really 22), Snow will apparently fill the role of Jennifer Simpson, a 15-year-old girl Variety describes as "a troubled psychiatric patient who witnessed her parents die and is constantly plagued by religious imagery."That sounds a lot less frightening than the actual game, but either the trade received a watered-down synopsis or Clock Tower will indeed be a disappointment to gamers. I've never played any of the Clock Tower games myself, but from what I've gathered from fan feedback, they're actually pretty scary. They center on a serial killer called the Scissorman, who stalks the player, who must survive by figuring out clues (feel free to correct me or elaborate if you've played).
Interestingly enough, Snow has been known to stalk me in my nightmares, in which she gangs up with lookalike Ann Coulter and torments me with punches to the groin (it's all thanks to this scene from Snow's film On the Doll). Regardless of my fears of the actress, though, she's continuing to make a strong career for herself somehow without really making a strong name for herself. Following a supporting turn in the musical Hairspray, she probably should be doing something better than starring in bad horror films, even if Prom Night was technically a box office success.

(Page 1)2. I played the Snes version, and It's scary as hell.
I don't know about the "a troubled psychiatric patient who witnessed her parents die and is constantly plagued by religious imagery." The main character is an orphan, not a psychiatric patient (she and all the girls of the group), but I don't remember the religious imagery.
And Scissorman is not the main villain in the game. Just the one that persues Jennifer the most.

3. I think that someone was about to get fired if they didn't come up with a movie idea so they searched the Internet for scary games and found this.
I mean, I enjoyed it enough at the time, but it was nowhere near the level of Resident Evil (or even Silent Hill) in terms of story, gameplay, or scariness.

4. I am a BIG Clock Tower fan, and this kind of disappoints me. I've read character synopsizes, and none of them are really related to any of the games. They also chose the worst game to base it off of. *Mad*

1. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Leave it to Hollywood to ruin good horror stories. The Clock Tower games are kind of like adventure games, you need to examine things and solve puzzles, and you need to hide whenever the Scissorman shows up. Pretty intense.
