SDCC 2008: 'Wolverine vs The Hulk'

Anyway, after the accidental sit-in of Race to Witch Mountain, I kicked back for Wolverine Vs. Hulk. It turned into one of the con moments you just kind of cherish -- and one I wish I could have shared last night, when it was fresher in my mind. I was sitting next to a really cool guy, who finally asked me "So, you're really just here to watch this because you want to?" I guess chicks are a rarity at this kind of screening. "Oh yes, I'm one of those people who buy all Wolverine's solo series!" "Well, cool!" (By the way, if you're reading this Hall H friend, hi!) I love when I get to share panels with cool people, when you can talk back and forth, laugh hysterically and groan aloud at the face pounding. It's what can make or break ComicCon for me.
If you dig over-the-top comic book cartoons, you'll like Hulk Vs Wolverine. The title is a little misleading, as it's really Wolverine versus everyone. He not only takes on the Hulk, he takes on Lady Deathstrike, Sabretooth, Deadpool (this sent everyone screaming with joy), Omega Red, and Weapon X. (In fact, it has a pretty cool flashback to the Weapon X storyline. I'm not sure what it had to do with the Hulk, but hey, it's my favorite, so I liked it.) I'm probably forgetting someone, because Wolverine kicked a lot of asses and I wasn't taking notes.
It's not as dark or stylish as Batman: Gotham Knight, but it really was a blast. Even my mom, who was groaning aloud at the very idea she was going to have to sit through anything Wolverine related (she's an Iron Man girl, remember), enjoyed it. High praise indeed. It was also hard not to be charmed by the creative team, who was so enthusiastic about their Hulk DVD series, and so hopeful that it could continue with characters like Deadpool. It all depends on the positive buzz, and I'm happy to contribute a little. The whole viewing experience was so enjoyable, it almost made up for missing Hugh Jackman earlier in the day. Almost.

(Page 1)2. Well, I wouldn't call it good enough to make up for missing Hugh Jackman, but it was excellent fun! And hey, I resent the Wolverine comment. I like him very much, it's the Hulk I really don't like. Seeing the great green one in cartoon action (yes, we oldsters still call them toons), I realized that the Hulk portrayed on Conan O'Brian is spot on. HULK SMASH! is his favorite line. LOL
I'm not sure what I enjoyed more, the film or the enthusiasm of its creators. You really can't help but love the whole big green hairy group, and their wonderful sense of humor, love and devotion.

1. I wanted to get in early to watch Wolverine vs The Hulk and ended up getting the bonus Witch Mountain panel and jaw-dropping Tr2n footage...and topped the screening off with the best $4 nachos you can buy.
I'm ready to pick up the DVD, to say the least. Oddly enough, my buddy, after watching the screener, became a fan of Deadpool. In my opinion - Deadpool stole the show and that guy NEEDS his own special. YOU HEAR THAT LIONSGATE?
The show was definitely a lot more violent than I expected - by a large margin. But then again - any fan of Wolverine in comics should already accept that one would be hard pressed to portray Wolverine as violent as he's intended in the books.
