I specifically said that the visuals actually inspired me to see a movie I never heard of. In that respect, I STATED CLEARLY that it succeeded. FYI: When I post an innocent first impression of something I see on an entertainment website, I don't go off and then 'research' it and then write a professional, newsworthy article on it. Maybe you don't understand blogs and forums, but giving an opinion and a first impression is perfectly normal, and doesn't need to be insulted. Calling someone a 'horses ass' and then making up quotes of what they (didn't) say is pointless. But, after being on these things for decades (since back when you dialed into BBSs) I should expect people like you. Still, I do get riled up when someone like you comes along. I need to start drinking at work. :-)

23. No worries Jim, I've never read Watchmen either -- and have no idea what any of those images represent (though I knew the names of characters from the coverage thus far). However, for folks like us, luckily Lis has put together an awesome beginner's guide to the trailer that goes live at noon EST today on Cinematical.

And for those Watchmen addicts out there: Take it easy on us newbies.

25. I read Watchmen when it first came out. I was 13 at the time, and while I remember enjoying it, I'm certain that a lot of the subject matter went over my head.
I was very iffy on the movie because of all the troubles it's had over the years in making it to the screen, but I saw the preview, and I was so excited that the next day I visited my friendly neighborhood comic shop to pick up the graphic novel and refresh my memory.
I was never a die-hard fanboy of the graphic novel (maybe I will be after I read it as an adult), but that trailer certainly won me over. I'll be at the midnight show on 03-06-09.

27. Amazing trailer! After viewing it today, I had really high hopes for the film even though Alan Moore wants nothing to do with it. THEN...THEN...I was reading the article in Entertainment Weekly (good crapper reading, ya know) and I lost all hope that the film will really work on all levels, much less be considered a "classic". What I read was..."Sure, there have been changes. The catastrophic climax is different. Provocative bits, like a timely subplot about alternative fuels has been added".

WTF! Won't those idiots in the film industry ever learn that if a book or a character works, is "great", it is for a reason. Every damn time they rewrite the premise to make it more topical, to add more kiddy apppeal (because that is what the curent focus group says the fickle audience wants at that moment) or adding a sidekick or useless props so they have more marketing tie-ins FAILS.

Some comic book characters have been "developed" on a monthly, or even weekly, basis for 20, 30 50 or more years! There is no living writer that will do an "ultimate tweak" in 6 months to improve on it.

Daredevil - reworked - sucked

Spiderman - fairly close to established storyline - Good

Judge Dread - Stallone looked the part and the visuals were spot on. But adding a comedic side kick (what audiences wanted!) and changing the entire history by adding the Father/Brother sub plot, devastated the movie.

Original Batman, Superman and Dark Knight - all fairly close to the original - excellent

300 and Sin City - exact adaptations - World class!

There a so many turds that I wont even try to list them because you all know them. Adding a topical subplot only makes the movie current for a short time. then it seems dated. A good example, one that most film buffs would have to agree with, is the Wizard of Oz. Just think of how different the film would be, how amusingly "dated" it would be, if the director had caved in to studio pressure by leaving in the scene where Dorthy and crew get bitten by the JitterBug bug. Most young folks today don't even know what the jitterbug craze was. If it had been left in, it would have created a moment were the fantasy illusion was shattered. The film might not be considered as great today.

ARRRGH! why not remake Romeo and Juliet - we can make the Montagues and Capulets stand for big business versus the environmentalists so that weak brained audience can have the topical pablum poured into their slack jawed mouths.

We could add a subplot about alternative energy to Macbeth - as naueum
