Anyway, I like it. It doesn't feel forced, it doesn't even feel "Sin City" to me. It feels surreal, in a good way.

2. Uggh. I love Eisner's old Spirit strips -- it started as a newspaper strip -- but this looks terrible. It looks like a high-tech porno version of The Spirit. Eisner's strip was all about groundbreaking visuals -- for instance, he pioneered the concept of a splash page in comics, and he was known for making The Spirit's name into a visual element on the page, ie. making the letters into buildings or brick walls. But this just doesn't evoke The Spirit for me. Way too effects-heavy and not enough noir. Yes, The Spirit always had his good girls and femmes fatale, but he was also a plucky underdog of a super hero who would inevitably get beaten to a pulp before persevering, a la Indiana Jones. I don't see any of that here. I am sure Miller was under a lot of pressure to bring it up to date and market this to today's kids, but Sin City did such a great job of updating the noir look and integrating Miller's visual style. Why couldn't he have done the same with this?!?

5. Miller's steam in comic books has died down, the last DArk KNight sequel he wrote and drew was horrendous on every level, as was the last Sin City miniseries he did, anyone who knows of these I challenge them to disagree with me. I loved the Sin City books but hated the movie and this Spirit just looks amateurish and camp as all hell, and what of Miller saying this wasnt a Sin City looking clone? It looks exactly like it.

6. What a dreadful piece of crap this trailer is. Frank Miller should not be directing movies.

I think film lovers should fight this nonsense filmmaking in a green box. It's just awful.

7. The front part was a bit goofy, but the actual footage looked pretty cool to me. The visual style is kind of similar to sin city I guess, but it looked different enough to not be confused for the same movie, even at a glance. I look forward to seeing more.

9. I'm worried. I love The Spirit and this aint him. Not based on the trailer, at least. Miller has said many times that this is "Will Eisner's The Spirit," but it looks more like "Frank Miller's Will Eisner's The Spirit." Where's the humor? Where's the charm? In the 60+ years that The Spirit has been around, Eisner never once revealed the face of The Octopus. In his first movie, Frank Miller reveals The Octopus' face. I understand that the studio wouldn't want to cast someone like Samuel L. Jackson and not show his face ... so don't cast Samuel L. Jackson. Cast an unknown. The cast of femme fatales should be enough to get butts in seats. I'm worried.

10. i'm pretty sure it will be more humorous like the comics.. give it a chance. keep in mind they're marketing toward people who have no idea who the spirit is..
