1. I would love for them to continue to make tons of Indiana Jones, even with the great shia labeouf, but this is kinda a useless discussion because they will take forever to come up with just a mediocre script. It is so great seeing Indy back, so i'm thrilled that they were actually able to make this one, just wish it had more humor, thrills and more life/death scenes. It's good, here's to hoping the 5th will be excellent.

2. Everything was thrown at this movie- American Graffiti, Close Encounters, E.T, Star Wars, it all there as affectionate references and in-jokes for Lucas, Ford, Speilberg and loyal fans. You cant top it - The only way that Indy could go now is the way of The Mummy franchise: The script is paper thin an the CGI becomes increasingly ridiculous in the amount that it has to deliver to attain an increasingly distracted audience. Give it up it was good but surely these people have some integrity!!?

3. I expected to be disappointed, but thankfully wasn't. Indy 4 is a decent flick, and fits in well with the first three. Is it flawed? Sure, but so were those first entries. Is there ridiculous action and f/x? Yep, but again, same with the others. It is funny how people bash CG. But, come come -- its not like stop-motion melting faces looked real either. As for the silliness, Spielberg fully knows how absurd some of the action is, but as he says, they are based on the outlandishness of the serials he saw as a kid, when logic didn't always follow through in cliffhangers.

Nearing 40, I was thrilled to see Indy at it again, hope to see a few more. I think to successfully hand the series off to Mutt, or anyone else, they need to transition the films into something new. I like Shia, but he is still too young to completely take over.

That said, the script will definitely be a challenge. Obviously, we don't want the next one to be where Indy gets kidnapped, and Mutt has to go find him. The whole kidnapping thing is getting tired already. As are deserts and jungles, even if they are fun.

4. More Indiana Jones films would be great if they can stay true to the relic/artifact seeking ways of the earlier films. The sci-fi elements of KOTCS were way too distracting and silly. More adventuring for artifacts with unique histories is the way to go, with competing parties. Hey, Lao Che is still out there...

5. Lucas and Speilberg are going to do what ever they want regardless of the fans. Did Lucas listen to Star Wars fans about not destroying that franchise?... No!

I loved the first three Indy movies, they great stories and characters, and not too much fluff. This latest Indy was aweful. I was embarrassed sitting there watching it. Shia is too 'good a kid' to play a greaser, Indy is too old, Marina Raven wood honestly served no purpose and was super happy all the time regardless of her plight in the movie, so it didn't really match up with her past character in Raiders. And of course, the CGI. Maybe this only matters to me because CGI is my job, but they went over board in some scenes. Lucas has this tendency now to over color skies and use animals or dumb characters for comic relief. Stop it! Imagine if the snakes scene in Raiders was CGI. Can you see how goofy and terrible it could've been? Can you see that? Nothing would have been believable. Ok, so now apply that to the new Indy film. Lots of CGI and lots of 'you gotta be kidding me' scenes.

So, having said all that, no I don't want them to destroy Indy any more...Oh wait, too late.

6. If you've seen Raiders on DVD then you HAVE seen the snake scene with CGI. I remember vivdly seeing the reflection off the pane of glass protecting Ford from the cobras on the big screen, and then later on VHS and laserdisc. When I watched it for the first time on DVD this past week I was amazed to find I couldn't see the reflection. I even stopped the movie and went back to look for it. It was gone! WTH? Then they explained in the Extras section that they had gone in and digitally removed it for the DVD now that that technology was available. That's CGI. And for every instance that was glaringly obvious to you, there's probably two dozen other instances where it was used and you didn't even know it. Even those of us for whom CGI is our jobs. Don't hate the technology. If you look at the special effects for the first three films and don't think the S.E. in Crystal Skull blows them out of the water, you aren't being the slightest bit objective.
