3. The Boondock Saints is an artistic groundbreaking masterpiece. It's flashbacks are essential in making this film what it is. This is one of the most intelligent films from every aspect of film-making. Negative reviews can only mean that you're in over your head with this one.
Those of you who are coddled, will have a problem looking further than your own personal inhibitions, and enjoying this film.
I saw this film when it first hit dvd, and since have challenged everyone I know to not be as mesmerized as I was! The result - practically all have added it to their favorites collection.

I loved Boondock Saints but I am totally MESMEREIZED by the documentary OVERNIGHT- Troy Duffy was an ass and a drunken bufoon on his best day- I hope he has since matured as he seemed to have a good Idea however I've read the premiss of the sequal and it sounds like garbage- Trpy needs to GENUINELY make amends to everyone in 1996 and forward and try to jump start something of his self deprived "wet dream" of a life. I supported the film on its' reprisal appearance at the theatres but for all his speeches before the films start- I have not seen anything remotely looking like and attempt to revive his entertainment career.

5. This comment totally defends The Boondock Saints as an engaging and intensely entertaining film.

Troy Duffy only comes off as an asshole in the documentary if you fail to see that he is really doing everything for his band and friends, who seem like schmucks without him, harvey weinstein totally falls through on his promises including failing to buy the bar...Why shouldnt he be mad and pushy to get his project made?

i imagine you haters would bend over and smile, which explains why you dislike a movie with vigilante heroes.

The saints are fantastic characters, I can wait for episode 5

6. Anyone that thinks Boondock Saints sucks, is a loser, or not Irish. This is my All time Favorite movie. The fact that there is a part 2 is even better. Get a taste in movies people. The acting, script, the story line this movie it the SH*T!!!

9. Agree with Barrett, and totally agree with Chris that I cant wait to see a sequel to Overnight.

I think my two favorite parts of Overnight were when Duffy got really defensive and yelled at that college kid for asking a very valid question. And then at the end of the film, how they allude to someone actually caring enough to try and run over Duffy at the Palm Springs Film Fest, that was good for a laugh.

11. Overnight had the horrifying fascination of watching a slow motion train wreck. In a town full of assholes, you'd normally root for the little guy but Troy Duffy was so boorish, so ignorant, so overbearing with his friends and family and just such a talentless asshole that for once I had to go with the establishment. I suppose I should be ashamed of myself but curiously I'm not.

12. Boondock Saints is a terrible, and extremely poorly made film. Bad script (at least from what I could tell watching the finished product, perhaps it was good on the page), bad editing. The only thing going for it is the likeability of the two leads, and Dafoe's entertaining performance. Still, I couldn't finish it - it's one of perhaps 5 movies that I have rented (out of thousands) that I turned off before finsihing.

Overnight was an interesting watch... Duffy is such an amazing asshole, and he is apparently a moron when it comes to business as well - he somehow ended up with final cut of Boondock Saints (which is probably why the movie is a mess), but neglected to get even 1% of home video sales. Had he let Miramax guide the film and snagged himself 1-2% of the home video rights, he would have been a millionaire, and his movie probably would have came out in more than 5 theaters.

13. Willem Defoe is great but, like most of the movie, out of synch with what's really going on. Nothing really made sense in that movie, least of all its morals. I can't begin to imagine what the hellraising sequel will be like. But I agree a sequel to OVERNIGHT would be great.

16. Great, another nugget from the self-proclaimed "cesspool of talent" lol. "Overnight" was a jaw-dropping fable for all those who dream of "making it". I have to admit after the film I kept asking myself if there was any possible way I could end up a lunatic asswipe like Duffy.

Boondock Saints was an atrocity of a film - DeFoe looked like he wanted to kill himself in most of his scenes.

Personally, I'm jonesing for OvernightII.

17. Never saw Boondock Saints but Overnight was a fascinating study in extreme asshole-dom. How anyone can be in the same room as Duffy and resist the urge to bitch-slap him is beyond me. The good thing is on my worst days I can say "At least I'm not that guy."

19. Sorry, I just couldn't deal with the flashbacks, flashforwards, flashbacks within flashbacks, and the insipid dialogue... Not to mention the awful "jokes". The film was so Tarantino Lite, it was painful. It would have been better had it been played for laughs more than it was... as it stands, it seemed like it wanted to be a semi-serious movie that had some laughs, and not an all-out comedy. If they had tried a bit more to make it feel like a farce, I could have enjoyed it on the same level of, say, a Hot Shots! Part Deux.

I did like the two main characters and their rapport, and Dafoe was great... but the movie was just so poorly made, it was unwatchable.

I think had Troy Duffy let someone with experience direct it, or at least relinquish final cut, it could have been a much better movie - but the direction and editing make what seems like it might have at one point been a fresh, fun story with interesting characters just be a muddled piece of garbage.

What the frak kind of crack are you people smoking? *The Boondock Saints* was an awesome little film. And a cult classic at that.

It is certainly a guy flick. It belongs in the pantheon of recent guy films such as *Fight Club* and *Blade*. Its certainly in my collection.

Needless to say, I'm sure many of these people on here criticizing the flick will be of the same bunch of weenies who will be praising *Superman Returns* when it floats into theatres at the end of the month.
